I’ve noticed the same decline — and not just with Sol or English. Voices in other languages (like German, for instance) have also lost much of their charm, personality, and regional flavor. What once felt natural and expressive now sounds sterile, overly polished, and emotionally flat.
It seems like there’s an attempt to balance between corporate-safe “neutrality” and casual tone, but the result is a kind of uncanny, sanitized speech that misses the mark on both fronts. Some of us are starting to suspect it’s part of a broader “wokeness syndrome” — where anything too regional, raw, or culturally specific gets smoothed out for fear of being “too much” for a global audience.
But real voice is messy. Real dialect has edges. Stripping that away might make things safer, but it also makes them far less human. Please bring back the imperfections — they were what made these voices feel alive.
