I would also like this fixed! I created a personal account originally using the “Use Google Account” button, but that means I have to log in with my Google credentials anywhere to use my account. I don’t want to login on my work computer with my google account, but keep it limited to a discrete OpenAI login.

Wow that is some pretty crappy coding… Given their pace of development I can excuse them back in the first few months. But by now this is becoming negligence. Easy code fix.
Possible work around? With a different email sign up using a user id and password. Then afterward, use the 3rd party login like google. Then when working delete your old account. Just my 2 cents.

I was able to set a password using my email, but upon login attempt the system replies:
“You tried signing in with a different authentication method than the one you used during signup. Please try again using your original authentication method.”
It would make sense to be able to use either authentication strategy, password or OAuth.
It is beyond me how such a successful company can sell such poor software. Please at least find an application developer with training to maintain your application. I am happy to do that as well.
This is not an issue with ChatGPT, it’s an issue with Google’s Auth services. Login with Google is run by Google, not ChatGPT. (to my knowledge) They have no say in what happens. I would recommend reaching out to support.google.com and asking them for the feature.

same issue, would really like an option to reset password and allowing password login. I do not feel like entering my google account on many devices I may end up using this, and while it was convenient to create the account, it is now a problem
We are in 2023 using the most advanced AI in humanity, generating wonderful texts, images, GPTs, APIs … and yet cannot reset a password or change your phone number in your account and release the previous phone number.
I mean it’s 2 days work for a multi-billion company!!
