Hello,
I noticed clearing cookies off my Mac enabled me to use Grok without chrome crashing. It started crashing again today at 1:43pm. I checked what cookies had been added to chrome since I last deleted them. “sentinel. openai. com” (sorry for the gaps, no links allowed) appeared on the list, though I had not visited an openai website since clearing cookies. When I checked the list of cookies on chrome again at 2:11pm, the “sentinel. openai. com” cookie was no longer on the list, though I had deleted no cookies. How is that possible?
“sentinel. openai. com” is also the only cookie that I couldn’t delete off my PC. I read on google that I may not have been able to delete the cookie because a process or feature that uses it was currently active. I have called the API from my PC, but then afterward logged off–I thought. I am new to coding. I was not running any programs except chrome on my PC when I was unable to delete the cookie.
Does this indicate malware from chrome has somehow infiltrated my system? Is my API account being used without my knowledge? It’s not being charged.
I recently experienced a glitch attempting to use Amex’s dual authentification; I did not input any code (sent via text message), but the payment still went through.
I am getting a little worried. Can someone explain why “sentinel. openai. com” has been installed without my knowledge on both my computers? (and then autonomously disappeared off my list of cookies on chrome).
tl;dr: Why is “sentinel. openai. com” appearing on both my computers? Why does it keep running when I am aware of no program using it on the PC? Why did it disappear off my mac without me deleting my cookies on chrome?
