# Retrieve assistance reply

Hi

I am in the process of learning the new assistance API.  
Using Postman, I did the following: create a tread → create a message \> create a run  
all of the requests work. However, I cannot retrieve the assistance response with any API call from the documentation. What am I missing?

try retrieving list of messages using the thread\_id and iterate through the messages and get the ones where `"role": "assistant",`
