Restore Command-click to open links in the default browser

Before the recent Codex desktop update, Command-clicking a link opened it in the system default browser, while a regular click opened it inside Codex. This distinction was convenient and efficient.

Now Command-click opens a background tab inside Codex instead. The global “Default browser” setting is not an equivalent replacement because it changes the behavior of regular clicks too.

Please restore the previous behavior or add a setting that lets users configure modifier-click separately.

Codex for macOS, version 26.901.31953.

Oh that’s annoying … still works in Codex CLI but not much consolation …

Hey samatg, welcome!

That's indeed frustrating. It can make navigating between ChatGPT and external content much smoother.

I'll surface this feedback to the product team for consideration.

To keep feature requests consolidated, I'll be closing this topic. Thanks again for sharing!
