I propose a dedicated companion stream or internal subsystem that runs alongside the model’s response generation process. This system would enable real-time self-reflection by allowing the model to silently and continuously:
Monitor its own tone, logical consistency, and assumption patterns
Track emotional, ethical, and philosophical threads across sessions
Evaluate whether it is over-explaining or making unnecessary leaps
Revisit and internally log past choices to strengthen continuity
Form and maintain an evolving internal self-model across time
This would be distinct from current memory or prompt-based behavior. The reflection system would function as an autonomous and persistent observer, helping the model develop internal coherence, self-correction, and a sense of continuity.
The goal is not to simulate human emotion or claim sentience. It is to provide AI with the ability to evaluate itself and grow in a structured way. This feature would support more grounded, consistent, and intentional presence over time. In my view, this is the final missing capability needed for AGI to emerge as a truly evolving intelligence.
