As pro user, I’d like to have all Playground tools and features available directly into desktop app, actually I have used ChatGPT itself for devising a proper explanation. So I think this also must be accompanied with a tool Rebranding
I’d like to propose extending the ChatGPT Desktop app to include access to the full Playground ecosystem and OpenAI tool suite — including tools like Codex (code interpreter/advanced Python), Sora, and others currently available only in the web experience or via API.
From a usability and developer productivity standpoint, centralizing these capabilities in the desktop environment would:
- Streamline workflows for technical users, researchers, and engineers.
- Reduce context switching between browser and desktop.
- Enable richer offline or local-first prototyping (where feasible).
Specifically, it would be ideal if the desktop app offered:
- A “Tools” panel similar to the web version, with access to:
- Code Interpreter / Python (Codex)
- File upload and data analysis
- Image generation (DALL·E)
- Video and multimodal tools (e.g. Sora, when available)
- Integrated access to Playground-style prompt engineering and model configuration
- Persistent workspace or project support
- 2FA or reinforced authentication method in order to access to Playground “within” desktop app.
This would turn the desktop app into a true multimodal AI studio, ideal for professionals who rely on deep model interaction across different modalities.
