"Read Aloud" stoped working

Title: “Read Aloud” Feature Not Working in Safari on MacOS

Hello,

I’m encountering an issue with the “Read Aloud” feature on the ChatGPT website when using Safari on MacOS. When I click the “Read Aloud” button, nothing happens. Here are the steps I have already tried to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Checked Safari settings: Verified that JavaScript is enabled.
  2. Verified site permissions: Ensured that the site has access to the microphone.
  3. Cleared cache and cookies: Removed all website data related to the ChatGPT site.
  4. Restarted Safari: Closed and reopened the browser.
  5. Updated Safari: Confirmed that I’m using the latest version of Safari.
  6. Tried a different browser: The issue persists even in other browsers like Chrome.

Despite these steps, the “Read Aloud” feature still does not work. It seems that this issue began after a recent update, as I didn’t experience it previously.

I have found that other users are experiencing similar problems, with reports of CORS errors and the feature not working across various platforms and browsers.

Could you please look into this issue and provide a fix? This feature is quite essential for my workflow.

Thank you!

Hey @vberesa, I am encountering exacly the same issue but on a pc. I’m using it with windows (chrome) and the “read aloud” button still does not work as expected. I have tried several steps to fix the problem exacly as you did. The problem doesn’t from our setup but instead openAI itself. This feature is also for me quite essential for my daily work (language learner). I hope you’ll find that useful and I hope a correction.

I am having the same issue in these days. When using the Android apk, ChatGPT is not reading aloud. In Windows, it is more slowly than usually, failing sometimes.
