We are making a PWA, on top of OpenAI APIs, and the assistants APIs, for daily use of people. We now think that the app will benefit from open source contributions, and decided to open source it. But before we do it, we need to know which license to use, so that in future we may be able to commercially sell it, and the contributors can directly or indirectly benefit from it. If both the things cannot be done, we will keep it as an open source software.
It sounds like what you want is a license where you get to make commercial use of developer’s work where they hold the copyright, since it is unlikely you are looking to compensate under contract to have transfer of ownership.
You’ll likely need yourself and contributors to be under something like BSD license, where there is no need to release source or improvements and commercial use is allowed (like actually taking BSD and making it your Mac OS).
