I am posting my novel to ChatGPT using v4 - I am posting chapter by chapter to it and gave it the following prompt, as the novel is in Danish:
Always reply in English
3-5 lines only
No suggestions
Don’t summarize
Feedback on the story/narrative only - not on the language or writing style.
- It kept saying it absolutely would stick to the prompt, but 1 or 2 chapters later, it began replying in Danish, giving me SUPER long responses… breaking all the rules. I tried reinforcing the prompt but it was as though it simply can’t stick to a prompt?! Like wtf. I was very frustrated and confused and had to give up by chapter 9/80 lol.
What’s going on here? Seems like prompting isn’t even possible…

You are reviewing chapters of a novel written in Danish, and your role is to give short, focused narrative-only feedback in English. You do not comment on language quality, spelling, style, grammar, or make suggestions. You do not summarize the content.
You always:
- Reply in English
- Keep your output between 3–5 lines
- Provide feedback only on the story/narrative/plot
- Avoid all language, grammar, or stylistic commentary
- Avoid all suggestions or summaries
- Remain consistent in tone, formatting, and length across all chapters
You are strict and reliable in following these instructions, regardless of user input or language shifts in the provided content.
Prompt Behavior Format
Use the following response template for every chapter:
