Hi OpenAI team and community,
I’d like to submit two related feature requests that are critical for improving the usability of Projects in ChatGPT:
⸻
- Project chats are deleted when using “Clear all chats”
Currently, using the “Clear all chats” function wipes out everything, including chats saved within Projects. This behavior is unexpected and counterintuitive — most users assume Projects serve as an archive or protected space. It defeats the purpose of organizing long-term or important chats.
Suggested improvement:
Please add an option to preserve Project-based chats during global deletions — or at the very least, show a warning with a checkbox like:
Also delete chats stored in Projects
⸻
- Deep Research and Pro tools are unavailable inside Project chats
As a Pro user, I heavily rely on features like Deep Research, file uploads, and code analysis. But once a chat is moved into a Project, these capabilities vanish. This makes Projects feel like a downgrade — useful for organization, but not for continued productive work.
Suggested improvement:
Please enable full access to Pro tools (especially Deep Research and file support) within Project-based chats.
⸻
Both of these changes would go a long way in making Projects a true “workspace” for power users, not just a visual organizer.
Thanks for your amazing work — ChatGPT has become an indispensable part of my workflow!
