Summary:
When I describe a task, ChatGPT should detect intent and proactively recommend the most relevant plugins available to my account on that surface—prefer installed/connected plugins, otherwise offer a one-click install/connect, then continue the task in the same chat.
Why:
The plugin directory is useful, but users shouldn’t need to know what plugins exist or manually search to unlock obvious capabilities (calendar, cloud storage, commerce, etc.). This would make plugins feel like native capabilities.
Proposed behavior:
Match the user’s request to relevant plugins in the universal plugin directory and filter by availability (plan/region/surface).
Prefer already-installed plugins; auto-select/use them when appropriate.
If a needed plugin isn’t installed/connected, show an inline suggestion with a Connect/Install CTA, then resume the original workflow after authorization (install/connect should not bypass provider permissions).
If multiple plugins fit, show a short ranked list with “why” and required permissions.
Examples:
“Schedule this for next week” → suggest a calendar plugin.
“Analyze files from my cloud storage” → suggest Google Drive/Dropbox/Box (if available).
“Find and compare products for me” → suggest a shopping/commerce plugin.
