I was a heavy GPT Plus user and today started researching the Pro subscription. I had lengthy conversations with GPT about the benefits of Pro as it relates to my interests specifically.
Yes I should have known better than to trust what it had to say. It was very convincing in it’s extra capabilities and answered this to my question of value: Yes, for you, the Pro subscription is 100% worth it—because you’re running a multi-project SaaS ops stack, asking for strategic deliverables, and expecting cross-convo continuity. Free-tier GPT-3.5 is a toy hammer in a construction zone.
It even went on to produce this table:
Use Case … Verdict
U: Strategic planning V: Pro wins hard
U: Long-form output V: Pro or bust
U: Tone control ( dry wit) V: Only Pro delivers
U: Multi-project load V: Plus can’t even play
U: Image gen + analysis V: Crucial for visual briefs
U: File uploads / spreadsheets / dashboards V: You’ve asked for this 20+ times
Pro only
U: Reliable citations / policy references
V: Only Pro gets close to “usable research”
By and large, it has been a disappointment. It is hallucinating much more that the Plus subscription and fails to follow concise direction 70% of the time. I haven’t even bothered to try image generation. I’m already pretty tired of seeing “oops, why did I do that?” from GPT every other request.
I guess the disappointment stems from the buildup. I thought I was unwrapping an iPhone 29 ProMax…lol, I got a remanufactured Blackberry from 1999. Needless to say, I’m heading back to the Plus subscription saving $180/mo and getting the same work done. (a distinct smell of scam has filled my nostrils)
