Please preserve Atlas' Project workflow in the ChatGPT Chrome Extension

I’ve been an active Atlas user and recently started migrating to the new ChatGPT Chrome Extension after reading the announcement that Atlas is being deprecated and its browser capabilities are moving into ChatGPT.

During this transition I noticed an important difference between the two experiences.

Atlas

Atlas allows me to:

  • Ask Chat about the current webpage
  • Continue an existing conversation
  • Start a new conversation inside an existing Project
  • Organize browser work alongside my long-term Projects

This makes browser context and long-term project context work together seamlessly.

Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension currently uses a different conversation model.

Instead of Chats and Projects, it creates Work tasks.

As a result, I cannot:

  • Continue an existing Project conversation
  • Create a new chat inside a Project
  • Organize browser work together with my existing knowledge base

Each interaction becomes an isolated task.

Why this matters

This is more than a UI difference.

For users who organize their work in Projects, it represents a loss of workflow capability during the migration from Atlas.

Many of us use ChatGPT as a long-term thinking partner.

Projects accumulate:

  • previous decisions
  • uploaded files
  • research
  • proposals
  • audits
  • writing style
  • months of reasoning

Atlas lets browser interactions become part of that knowledge.

The Chrome Extension currently does not.

Request

If the Chrome Extension is intended to become the successor to Atlas, I hope it can adopt the same conversation model by allowing users to:

  • Continue an existing Project
  • Create a new chat inside a Project
  • Organize browser conversations within Projects instead of isolated Work tasks

Atlas already demonstrates that this workflow is possible.

Preserving this capability would make the transition much smoother for users who rely on Projects for long-term knowledge work.

Welcome to the Community and thanks for laying this out so clearly, @Deriz_Syarief! The gap between Atlas and the Chrome Extension is easy to understand from your examples.

Your request is to let browser interactions continue or start chats inside existing Projects, so they can use the files, decisions, research, and context already built there instead of becoming isolated Work tasks.

We’re sending this to the team for logging as a feature request. Preserving that Project-based workflow would make the transition from Atlas much smoother for people using ChatGPT for long-term work.
