Please add a search, categorization and speech-to-text/conversation features, particularly on desktop

SEARCH FUNCTION:
It would be helpful to search not just for conversations containing specific information but also to be directed to the exact point within that conversation. Finding the relevant instance is one thing, but pinpointing the exact section for full info and context is challenging. Currently, long and robust past conversations lose viability since you can’t search within them, requiring you to have to leave auto scroll moving up for several minutes and then use Ctrl+F just to find info that ChatGPT can’t reference.

SPEECH-TO-TEXT & VOICE CALLS FOR PRODUCTIVITY:
Need this. This is why I find the mobile version unfortunately more useful than desktop. While desktop integrates well with dynamic use cases since it’s on the same system as my other work, typing everything and staying focused on the ChatGPT tab limits productivity. Being able to talk and receive info from ChatGPT while working on something else, especially on desktop, would be a game changer. I don’t want to run both desktop and mobile versions just to use it efficiently.

CATEGORIZATION:
For users with multiple threads on a specific use case, having a way to group and quickly access them would be beneficial. Being able to expand folders to view related threads would help organize and streamline information, avoiding the need to scroll past each individual thread.

MEMORY IMPROVEMENTS:
Currently, when you add details to custom instructions like the “How would you like ChatGPT to respond” section, it generates individual memory entries for each guideline it identifies. This process occurs for each new conversation, resulting in multiple copies of the same instructions across different sessions, leading to memory bloat.

For example, if ChatGPT identifies 5 guidelines in your instructions and you’ve started 10 new conversations since even touching your custom instructions, you’ll have 50 memory entries—10 identical copies of the same 5 instructions. Assuming this is a technical limitation with supporting each instance’s functionality, but as is, it contributes significantly to memory capacity issues people experience.

While increasing the memory cap would be ideal, the ability to delete multiple memories at once would be a significant improvement. Also, the ‘Memory Full’ notification doesn’t appear on mobile, and on desktop, it would help massively if clicking the message lead directly to setting. Deleting requires manually removing each entry with multiple confirmation steps, making it tedious to clear multiple entries, only for memory to fill up again soon after.

  • For people wanting to speed this up, you can click forget and then press the enter button to confirm, so you can spam click+enter to speed up the process or set up a macro so you don’t have to wipe the entire log itself.
