# Permission error: "Missing scopes: model.request" despite correct organization roles

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering a `permissions_error` when trying to use the Transcriptions API (Whisper). The error message indicates that I’m missing the `model.request` scope:

    "message": "You have insufficient permissions for this operation. Missing scopes: model.request. Check that you have the correct role in your organization (Reader, Writer, Owner) and project (Member, Owner), and if you're using a restricted API key, that it has the necessary scopes.",

  }
}

```

What’s confusing is:

- I previously had a similar issue with the Responses API, but that has been resolved.

- The problem still persists specifically for the Transcriptions (Whisper) API.

- I’ve already regenerated my API token, so it doesn’t seem to be token-related.

- The API key is configured with full permissions.

Has anyone experienced this issue specifically with the Transcriptions API?  
Is there an additional scope or setting required for Whisper that might not be obvious?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the developer community, @eyupco.

I just tested this on both newer and older projects, and I’m still able to call `whisper-1` through the Transcriptions API.

Could you check your project Limits page and confirm whether `whisper-1` is enabled?

You can find it here:  
`https://platform.openai.com/settings/{project_ID}/limits`

Also, could you try creating a brand-new project, then generate an API key with full permissions, and let us know what happens there?
