Paid for Plus Subscription, Ended Up with Zero Access

I recently faced a frustrating issue with my ChatGPT Plus subscription that I would like to share. I purchased the subscription using my current email address, my@gmail.com, through Apple verification. Despite this, the subscription was incorrectly assigned to my old, deleted account, g*[my email]. Before upgrading to my new account, I deleted the old account from OpenAI, ensured the previous subscription had expired, and logged out of and removed all sessions from my phone. Yet, my recent purchase still ended up linked to the deleted account.

I reached out to OpenAI support, hoping for a resolution. However, I was informed that they do not support transferring subscriptions between accounts. Instead, I was advised to cancel the subscription on my current account and sign up again. Unfortunately, this doesn’t address the core issue of the subscription being assigned to the wrong account. I’ve been left in a difficult situation where I can’t access the subscription I paid for and I’m unable to activate it on my new account. Additionally, customer support left me waiting for hours without a response.

If anyone else has faced similar issues, I’d be interested to hear how you resolved them. It seems like a common problem, and any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Based on what I’ve seen on forums, this is an old issue that unfortunately still hasn’t been resolved. When you create an account using Google sign-in on iOS, your membership is linked to your Google account instead of your Apple ID email. So far, no problem. The real issue is that even if you’ve deleted the account you used to sign in to ChatGPT, it still starts a membership on the old account instead of the new one. This happened a few months after my Plus subscription ended, when I tried to purchase with a new account. How can you allow a membership on a deleted account? Customer service is a complete disaster. Now, I’m waiting for a refund from Apple. However, I might never be able to start a membership through iOS again :(.
