Opt In to Ads, Get More Usage

Hi everyone — and hopefully someone from the OpenAI team sees this.

I’m a ChatGPT Pro subscriber on the $200/month plan, and I use Codex to build next-generation software. The recent model improvements have been impressive, but advanced development work can still consume a lot of the available usage.

I would be happy to opt in to clearly labeled ads in exchange for additional ChatGPT and Codex usage.

This would not need to change the regular ad-free paid experience. It could simply give paid users a choice: keep the current plan without ads, or voluntarily accept some ads for higher usage limits.

Paying users may actually be one of the best audiences for advertisers. They have already shown that they are willing to spend money on products and services that provide real value. I believe many users would be open to seeing relevant ads if they received meaningful additional usage in return.

OpenAI could even offer different levels, such as occasional ads for a smaller usage increase or more frequent ads for a larger increase.

This could benefit everyone: more revenue for OpenAI, a strong audience for advertisers, and more usage for users who choose it.

Since it would be completely optional, I do not see much downside in testing it.

Hey 613, welcome to the forum!

I agree that would be a useful feature and could provide more flexibility. I'll pass this feedback along to the product team so they can review the request and decide whether it can be implemented.
