OpenAI API Key "Verification Failed" in QNAP Qsirch RAG Search – No Clear Error?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to use my OpenAI API key with the new RAG Search feature in Qsirch on a QNAP NAS, but I keep getting a “Verification failed” message, no additional info, no error code, nothing to go on.

Here’s what I’ve tried/verified:

  1. I have an active OpenAI subscription ($20 plan).
  2. I’m using GPT-4o as the model in the settings.
  3. API key is correctly copied (tried regenerating, no change).

Any idea what could be wrong? Could this be due to:

  1. RAG Search requiring specific model access?
  2. IP restrictions or missing headers from QNAP’s side?
  3. A bug in the Qsirch implementation?

Appreciate any ideas, suggestions, or confirmation if someone has this setup working.

Thanks in advance,
Marko

API billing is deducted from the balance in your account, usually recharged with prepaid credits. Is a separated service, unrelated to the Chatgpt Plus subscription.

You can look at your credits on the billing page, and test out if your api key has access to the models in the playground.

I’ve learned something new again tonight, thank you! I hadn’t realized the API billing works completely separately from the ChatGPT Plus subscription. That clears up a lot.

It is really cheap though, you can put $5 and give it a try. The credits expire in a year though, if not used.
