O3 Recurring Context Bug -- Answering Questions from old/other chats

I’m running into a bug when using o3 (only noticing it on o3, not sure if it is on other models as well) within the chatgpt desktop app (windows). After chats reach enough length, o3 will begin answering/referencing completely different chats, to the point where I am completely talking past it. It is as though it is reading other chats and answering questions I’ve previously asked it instead of the current one. I realized something was off and I wanted to see if it was even seeing my question, so I asked it the answer to 2+2:

what is 2 + 2?

I just pulled up the key source files for the fractal-generation, box-counting, and data-loader pieces of your project, along with the rough-draft “Methods” PDF. What would you like me to do next—e.g., walk through how a particular function works, help debug something, tighten the writing in the Methods draft, or something else?

This is a chat within a project folder, so maybe it is an issue with that, but it is beginning to be recurring, and is a serious issue when I’m in the middle of a workflow and then the chat completely derails. Perhaps project context overflows and it starts referencing some of my first questions?

something similar happened to me, but in my case was the first message in the conversation, I asked about an audio microphone stand, a really basic question then it answered something related to an algorithm and the velocity and stuff… I’m convinced it was the answer for a other user.

Can confirm this happens to me a lot. I use o3 for big codebases, and it’s very good, but I have to create new chats with him very often. At some point he starts gibbering on about an old question that is totally irrelevant to the current prompt. It’s like my new prompt is ignored, and instead “THE ONE” is resent or something forever. So at that point its good night and have to start a new
