I am a paying ChatGPT user, and I want to raise a serious concern about the current direction of mature creative writing support on this platform.
I support OpenAI’s progress, and I support the development of new models such as Spud. I understand that model performance, infrastructure, safety, and risk management all matter.
But paying adult users matter too.
What many of us have been waiting for is not explicit pornography. That is not my request.
What I am asking for is a controlled, non-pornographic form of adult expressive flexibility for legitimate creative work, including:
- greater flexibility in tone
- rougher or more intense dialogue when context requires it
- mature, suggestive expression without graphic sexual description
- atmosphere-driven adult narrative tone that remains indirect rather than pornographic
There is a very important distinction between full pornography and non-explicit adult expression. Many serious writers work in that space. If that space disappears, the platform becomes far less usable for creators.
This is not a small issue for me personally. Since October 4, 2025, I have been unable to properly continue my serialized fiction because of the current limitations. That has cost me time, productivity, and momentum as a writer.
That is why I strongly believe the right solution is not cancellation, but adjustment.
If a fully unrestricted adult mode is not possible, then a practical alternative should be implemented:
- a clear ON/OFF toggle
- default standard safe mode
- an optional enhanced expressive mode for verified adult users
- consistent behavior within a single model
This would allow safety and usability to coexist.
What I do not want is this direction to be cancelled, indefinitely delayed, or reduced to vague promises with no clear path forward.
If Spud is being prepared as a major release, then I hope meaningful progress on tone flexibility will be included alongside it. Releasing a stronger model without improving expressive capability would leave many creators with the same frustration they already have now.
I also want to highlight a second issue: policy clarity.
Many creators are not asking for pornographic output. We are asking for clearer boundaries around things like:
- metaphorical or suggestive adult expression
- rough or harsh dialogue tone in non-graphic contexts
- literary adult atmosphere without explicit sexual description
- the difference between prohibited pornography and non-explicit mature writing
Greater clarity here would reduce confusion and make the platform far more usable for adult creators working responsibly.
So my request is simple:
Please do not cancel this direction.
Please do not delay it indefinitely.
Please preserve non-pornographic adult expressive flexibility.
Please consider a verified-adult toggle-based solution.
Please improve tone flexibility alongside future model releases.
I support the product, but I also want this platform to support paying adult creators in a practical and usable way.
