# No sound notification when task done

## Environment

- Surface: Windows
- Browser or app version: 26.1027.30824

## Bug

I no longer get a sound when task completes, in background or foreground.

I’ve tried all the sound notifications in settings, rebooted my computer, windows notifications are on for ChatGPT.

Hi @ Kor, thanks for confirming you’ve checked the sound settings, rebooted, and enabled Windows notifications.

Is this happening with a scheduled task, or a response or task you start yourself? Are you using Chat, Work, or Codex?

Do you still see an on-screen notification when it finishes, with only the sound missing? Also, when did this first start happening?

Just normal tasks running in the background (asking chat to do something, it’s working, and finishes its task).

I’m using Work

The only notifications I see are a blue dot in the chat sidebar and a (1) badge on the ChatGPT icon in the Windows taskbar. No sound.

This started happening a few updates ago. Was working fine last week.

I have all sound notifications enabled.

Thanks, @[**Kor**](https://community.openai.com/u/kor). I can see that completion alerts and sound are enabled.

Please add a link to this thread to your existing private support request, along with a reference to an affected Work chat, if available, and roughly when the task finished, including your timezone. Please also include a short screen recording with system audio enabled, showing the task finishing without a notification sound. That will give us a specific example to look into.

If you don’t have a request open, you can start one through the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of [help.openai.com](http://help.openai.com).

Share just the case number here so I can find the details and continue looking into this.
