I’m not sure where I can submit my feedback, so I hope this is the appropriate place.
There are a few key issues in ChatGPT that are quite frustrating:
- Chat log history is poorly managed – I can’t find what I need when I need it.
- The archive chat feature is underdeveloped – “Delete All” also wipes out archived chats, which is a serious flaw.
- A robust log management system is essential – features like tags for filtering and searchability are urgently needed.
Currently, the left-side chat log history is ineffective without a built-in search function or a proper log management system. When you have thousands of chat logs, history should be searchable; otherwise, it becomes almost useless. Proper management is essential, ideally by grouping logs into folders or using tags. Chat histories should be either kept or removed. I archive what I need, but the “DELETE ALL” option shouldn’t delete archived chats as well. The deletion of archived chats should be handled separately.
Here’s my main complaint: I have hundreds, if not thousands, of chat logs, yet I cannot find what I need when searching. This makes storing these logs pointless. A built-in log search function is essential.
When I want to clear thousands of chat histories from the left panel and keep only 10 to 30 logs in the archive, I am unable to do so. Your “DELETE ALL CHATS” button deletes everything, including archived chats, which is counterproductive. The “Delete Archived Logs” and “Delete Unarchived Logs” functions should be separated. Deleting logs one by one is an unnecessarily tedious process. Clicking the ellipsis, selecting delete, and then confirming means three clicks per deletion, making it a cumbersome task when dealing with thousands of logs.
It would be more practical to organize chats into categories. For example, if I want to keep only my car tuning logs and guitar learning logs but delete everything else, I should be able to filter by category and delete accordingly. Chat logs should be searchable by category. With a high volume of logs, a folder or hierarchy structure for organization makes sense. It would also be crucial to allow users to export individual logs or categories, rather than forcing an “Export All” option.
