Mystery model popped up on lmsys gpt2-chatbot - gpt4.5?

One piece of news that appeared on my feed:

OpenAI is likely to announce a new search engine soon, revealed Jimmy Apples, stating that the company is looking to host an event this month, tentatively on May 9, 2024, at 10 a.m.

Based on the comments on HN this hush model has been very good at finding very old, unimportant information. Like there’s some sort of RAG built-in.

In the article they found that OpenAI is creating a bunch of async sub-domains. Here’s a snippet:

search.chatgptcom C=US, O=Let’s Encrypt, CN=R3
12840943416 2024-04-24 2024-04-24 2024-07-23 search.chatgptcom *.search.chatgptcom

search.chatgptcom returns a planned 404 for both GET and POST (as opposed to something like asdfasdfasda.chatgptcom which is an actual 404)

Great freaking timing if this is true. There has been a brutal article released and supported by a lot of people. Google Search sucks for me and I hardly even use it anymore.

How I feel about a centralized blackbox system becoming the new search engine:

BAD, VERY BAD
