The current usage meter is useful, but it would be much clearer if it showed more detail about how usage is calculated.
For example:
- a small timeline or graph showing usage over the last 5 hours
- the time of the last usage update
- how much usage was added since the previous update
- which type of activity caused the usage, such as ChatGPT, Work, Codex, tools, screenshots, etc.
- an indication when usage is still being processed and may appear later
At the moment, the percentage can drop some time after the actual activity took place, which makes it difficult to understand where the usage came from.
Something similar to an energy/smart-meter app would make this much more transparent and easier to understand.
