Hello. Sorry if I have not written in the correct section or with the correct tag, in addition to my bad English because I am a Spanish speaker. I will explain my problem.
Yesterday, I was writing a fanfic story with ChatGPT, and I was alternating it between PC and the Android app. Well, yesterday, or rather, this morning, at about 3:00 A.M. I got a message about the chat limit and to continue in a new chat. Well, I was going to make a backup in Word, when I saw that in the Android app I lost all the messages, having only the first 2 of mine, the first 2 responses from ChatGPT and my last written message, with an error message in the response. The rest are lost. Is there any way to recover those messages to be able to make the backup? Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience: I clarify that I did not know that it could be linked with Drive and other apps, nor that chats could be archived.
I also want to clarify that this story already had 99 or 100 chapters, which are the ones I would like to recover. I am desperate to recover it!
I apologize again for the inconvenience caused, if I have confused the category, the tag and for my poor English. Do you need the link to my chat for more help? It is linked to my Google account with which I have registered here
I have used the ChatGPT search engine to look for one of the lost messages, but even though it detects it, it does not send me to the message thread, so I am in the same position as when I posted the topic.
Hi, have you tried to simply reload the page or maybe log out and log in into your ChatGPT account on your PC? I had a similar experience where some of the new messages seemed to disappear, but just reloading the page usually helped.
If that didn’t help, try exporting the archive with all chats: Settings → Data controls → Export data. The archive will be sent to the email linked to your account. Check the chat.html file in it.
Yes, I have tried logging out and logging back in. It didn’t work. I’ll do the Export Data thing in a few hours, I’m working on it right now. Thanks for answering😁
I’ll post the results of the html chat thing later.
Hello again, good morning, I have checked the chat.html and the same thing happens to me as in ChatGPT, I do not get the lost messages, instead, I have opened a file called conversations.json and the lost messages appear but in a very strange way. For example:
\n\n—\n\n### Cap\u00edtulo 97: El General del Caos \n\n
When you put the Capitulo 97: El General del Caos (Chapter 97: The General of Chaos) thing it comes out in a bit of a strange way.
Edit:
I solved it within ChatGPT itself. Apparently, the messages you modify (because you gave a bad instruction, or there is a spelling mistake) and send, or the ones you restart (the ones from the AI because it doesn’t give you the answer you are looking for) create branches within those messages (for example: 1/2; 2/2…) What I did was click on each branch until I reached the lowest point. If your chat stops at the bottom, but you know there is something else written, you have to look for the next branch, and so on until you find all the messages.
I did it through ChatGPT Chrome browser.
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience. I hope my explanation helps someone.
