Message in conversaion not found after uploading files

Hey,

i just bought ChatGPT-Plus yesterday so I don’t know if this is a known issue or not.

I am using ChatGPT to run a DnD-Campaign. I’ve been using 3.5 for this for a couple of month now and I thought i’d give GPT4 a try.

So one of the coolest new features that I found was the option to upload a file and have ChatGPT read it. So I went ahead and uploaded the whole campaing PDF (300 or so pages) and started asking questions to the how the new feature works.

At first I was stunned by how fast I was able to get precise answers to different questions. But sooner or later I ran into an error message “Message in conversation not found”. I tried a bunch of different things (relogging, different device etc.) but I was unable to recover the chat. I am either unable to input any prompt or if I somehow manage to input something I always get the same error.

So I started a new Chat and did simular things only to get the same error after a while. Long story short: I tried about 10 different Chats now with uploading different PDFs and asking different questions but sooner or later the Chat always goes south and I ain’t able to recover the conversation.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known bug? Any help is appreciated since I thinking about request a refund if every Chat fails after about 10 messages or something.

I have been having the same issue as well.
A conversation would process images just fine, and then just at random, I would get this error with one of the images, and once I do, there is no way to retrieve that conversation. Regenrate doesnt help, and I cannot edit the last message. So, I just have to re-start the conversation, losing all context.
