Maximum Phone Authorizations Reached - OAuth Provides no other way to verify than Phone

Case Number: 11570439

I have a valid account, I have a phone number that is still mine. I have had the phone number for 20+ years. Long before OpenAI was even a thing. It’s not a case of reprovisioned number having been used before.

I am trying to use OAuth through Hermes Desktop. The login pops up. My account is created through Google login (not email login). So I use that.

I am prompted to enter my phone number. There is NO OTHER VERIFICATION OPTION AVAILABLE.

Every time I try, I enter the Phone Number associated with my account. Which has been my phone number on my account since I created it.

Every time I am given the error that my phone number has been used the maximum times to authenticate my account.

So how else do I authenticate using OAuth?!?!?!?!!?!?

I can login to ChatGPT with my account fine. I even use TFA and receive codes just fine.

This is beyond stupid.

Support gave me the ridiculous canned response about 3 times, and blah blah blah.

So what is the alternative method? This is an OpenAI issue.

This needs to get resolved.
