I lost all of my work for 1,5 years after upgrading to Teams and later trying to downgrade again.
This is my situation now:
- Registered for ChatGPT
- Upgraded to Plus, paid subscription
- Build history of hundreds of valuable conversations
- Upgraded to Teams, $200
- “Wanna merge?” Sure! Must be a cool feature
- Found no use for Teams, cancelled subscription.
- Lose my whole work of 1,5 years.
- Can’t even re-register
- Can’t download my invoices for past months

To clarify, once your personal workspace is merged into a Team workspace, all existing chat history and custom GPTs are transferred to the Team workspace, and the personal workspace is deleted. This process is permanent and cannot be reversed. If a Plus subscription was active on the personal workspace, it is automatically canceled during the migration.

If you’d like to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus again, you will need to create a new account using a different email address.

So while they claim “It’s a feature, not a bug” it is actually the worst possible user experience I had in the last 20 years.
Thanks god I have a quite recent export so at least I have the history (but of course the “memory” is lost forever)
