Feature Suggestion: Live Word Counter + Send Button Control in AI Chatboxes
Idea Proposal for AI Chatbox Improvement
Hey everyone, Iβd like to suggest a real-time word count tracking system for ChatGPT and other AI chat platforms. This feature would enhance user experience by ensuring clarity on input limits.
Key Features & Benefits:
Live Word Count Display β Always know how many words you have left (e.g., β990/1000β).
Auto-Disable Send Button β Once the word limit is reached (e.g., 1000 words), the send button turns grey, preventing submission.
Re-Enable on Edit β Deleting words (e.g., backspacing from 1000 to 999) immediately reactivates the send button.
Supports Pasted & Dragged Text β The counter updates dynamically when users paste or upload text.
Includes Characters & Special Symbols β Tracks not just words but also numbers, punctuation, and special symbols for accurate input monitoring.
Pros &
Cons of This Feature
Pros:
- Enhances user experience by providing clear, live feedback on input limits.
- Eliminates frustration from hidden word caps, saving time for users.
- Encourages structured writing, useful for professional and academic use.
- Improves efficiency for AI-generated content workflows.
- Prevents message loss due to unexpected input limits.
Cons:
- Might clutter the UI if not designed properly.
- Could add minor processing load due to real-time tracking.
- Some users may prefer flexibility over strict input control.
- May not be necessary for casual conversations, but highly valuable for professional settings.
