It’s easy to get into a useful conversation without realizing you’re in Temporary Chat, then accidentally close it and lose something you wanted to keep. Other times, you intentionally start a temporary conversation but realize halfway through that you’d like to save it.
I’d love to see something along the lines of these options to help with this:
- “Save as a regular chat” button: Move the full temporary conversation into a new chat in your history so you can continue it later without manually copying everything.
- Optional “Recently closed temporary chats” section: Give users who enable this setting a short recovery window—for example, 24 hours—to restore a conversation or save it as a regular chat. Show when it expires and include a “Delete now” option.
- A clearer reminder before leaving: Where possible, warn that the conversation won’t appear in chat history and offer “Save chat,” “Discard,” or “Keep chatting.”
Since people choose Temporary Chat for privacy, any recovery feature should be opt-in, with clear information about what gets saved and for how long.
Even just adding “Save as a regular chat” would make a big difference when a quick conversation turns into something worth keeping.
