Kept getting error message when uploading to custom GPT

When updating my custom GPT, I kept getting the error message “Failed upload to files.oaiusercontent.com. Please ensure your network settings allow access to this site or contact your network administrator.”, whenever I try to upload a pdf file where it contain “searchable recognised text” created by Adobe Acrobat Pro regarding scanned images of pages of a textbook.

When I upload the exact same file without “searchable recognised text” (created by Adobe Acrobat Pro), then I stop getting this error. However, the scanned images of pages of the textbook appear to be not recognised by GPT. (I ask specific questions about these pages and GPT seem to give unrelated made up answer)

I repeatedly tried to upload 3 different files, each without “searchable recognised text” (created by Adobe Acrobat Pro), each with “searchable recognised text” (created by Adobe Acrobat Pro).
The result is, whenever pdf file contain “searchable recognised text” (created by Adobe Acrobat Pro), then error “Failed upload to files.oaiusercontent.com. Please ensure your network settings allow access to this site or contact your network administrator.” will appear.
whenever pdf file DOES NOT contain “searchable recognised text” (created by Adobe Acrobat Pro), file will end up been uploaded successfully.

what an odd bug?

You may try this method:

  • Open your PDF file with a software or with a browser.
  • Try to PRINT and select the printer as “Microsoft Print to PDF”
  • Click on Print
  • Save with a new file name.
  • Upload new file in your custom GPT.
