Issues with CJK Input in ChatGPT Desktop

Hi OpenAI team,

I’ve encountered some usability issues when using the ChatGPT Desktop App in its mini window mode while inputting CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) characters. These problems make the experience less smooth and user-friendly for CJK users. Here are the specific issues I’ve observed:

  1. Candidate List Not Displayed

When typing CJK characters using an input method editor (IME), the candidate list does not appear on the screen. While I can still use the number keys to select characters, the absence of a visible list makes it difficult to know which options are available or currently selected.

  1. Input Characters Disappearing

Occasionally, when I start typing a word, the app deletes the characters I’ve just typed. For example, when trying to input the Chinese phrase “你好”(nihao):

• I type n, but the n disappears from the input box.

• I continue typing ni, but ni also disappears, leaving the input box empty.

These behaviors disrupt the input process and make it challenging to communicate effectively using CJK characters in the mini window mode. And this problem seems to occur more frequently when uploading a file or mini windows mode.

Environment Details:

Operating System: macOS Sequoia 15.1

ChatGPT App Version: 1.2024.317

These changes would greatly improve the usability of the desktop app for CJK users. Thank you for looking into this issue, and please let me know if you need further details or logs to debug!

Excuse me, do you fixed this problem? I met the same problem now, I can’t even type a letter in Chinese after the English words.

Same issue. Dropping first key input while CJK IME turned on.
