I am experiencing an issue with the Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature in the web version of ChatGPT. The feature has stopped working, Here are the details of my troubleshooting efforts:
I have tried using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and the issue persists across all of them.
I have cleared cookies, cache, and browsing history.
I have tried using the incognito mode.
My browser (Chrome) is fully updated.
I have checked my system’s voice and microphone settings, and everything seems to be in order.
I have changed my DNS settings to Google Public DNS and Cloudflare DNS.
I have disabled all browser extensions to rule out any conflicts.
Despite all these efforts, the TTS feature still does not work. I am using Windows 11 and my internet connection is stable. Could you please assist in resolving this issue?
I seem to be having a similar issue, though it’s very new for me. I recognize this is an old(ish) bug, but I’m hoping to help anyone else who might run into a similar issue in the future.
Here are the steps I’ve taken to most consistently make it respond, though it is not a perfect solution:
Step 1: Try closing bloat tabs.
If your browser has too many tabs open, or you have too many windows open, it may effect the TTS engine’s performance, causing it to crash sporadically.
Step 2: Check open Software.
At least part of the TTS engine runs locally; I recieved an error message from Windows that closed when GPT’s TTS engine crashed, so check that your RAM, CPU, and GPU aren’t overloaded with/by other programs.
Step 3: Refresh.
When the TTS engine crashes more than three times in a single session, try refreshing the page (F5/Shift+F5).
