iPad screen sharing shows as active but never reaches ChatGPT

Hi everyone

I’m having a persistent screen-sharing issue with ChatGPT on two iPads: an iPad mini and an M4 iPad Pro.

Screen sharing appears to start successfully: iPadOS shows that screen recording is active and that the share is being sent. However, ChatGPT never receives or displays the shared screen.

I’ve tried both ways of starting it:

  • Starting screen share from within the ChatGPT app

  • Starting screen recording from Control Center (the swipe-down menu in the top-right), then selecting ChatGPT as the destination

The issue occurs on both iPads. They are currently on an iPadOS 27 beta, but the same issue also occurred on the public iPadOS 26 release.

One additional detail: screen sharing does not seem to be available in the latest Live mode, but it appears to be supported in Advanced Voice’s legacy mode. Even there, though, the recording indicator activates without the screen share actually arriving in ChatGPT.

For comparison, screen sharing works correctly for me on macOS, as well as on Android (both on my phone and tablet). The problem appears limited to iPadOS.

Has anyone found a workaround, or can OpenAI confirm whether iPad screen sharing is currently supported and reliable in these Live/voice modes? I’m happy to provide app version, iPadOS build numbers, or screen recordings if that would help troubleshoot.

Same here, he lies that he will say, when i do anything on screen and 5 min silence… in between i opened 5 apps and ask him what was between…. In response I’ve heard that I opened something that I didn’t… it’s trash asf
