Input Text Field Bug in Conversation Panel When Canvas Panel is Open

Affected Platform: Windows App only (Not tested on the web version)

Description: When the Canvas Panel is open in the Windows App, the Conversation Panel’s input text field exhibits the following issues:

  1. Cursor Placement Issue:
  • It is impossible to click anywhere within the input text field to place the cursor.
  • The user must click at the far-left of the input field and use the arrow keys to navigate to the desired location.
  1. Send Button Non-Functional:
  • The “Send” button and the arrow-up functionality to submit input do not work.
  • The user must press “Enter” to send the message, making other submission options ineffective.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open the Windows App for ChatGPT.
  2. Open the Canvas Panel by creating or viewing a document.
  3. Attempt to:
  • Click within the middle or end of the input text field to edit a partially typed message.
  • Click the “Send” button or use the arrow-up key to send the input.

Observed Behavior:

  • Cursor cannot be placed directly within the input text field.
  • “Send” button and arrow-up functionality do not respond.
  • Only “Enter” works for message submission.

Expected Behavior:

  • Users should be able to place the cursor anywhere within the input text field by clicking.
  • Users should have multiple options to send their input, including the “Send” button and the arrow-up functionality.
