I wanted to share a product idea based on my experience using ChatGPT for structured narrative writing.
One thing I’ve noticed is that while the system is very strong in safety and consistency, it can sometimes be difficult to maintain certain types of narrative tone and density in longer creative workflows.
This isn’t about explicit content, but rather about:
maintaining metaphor-driven storytelling
preserving narrative intensity and pacing
allowing more flexible dialogue structures
sustaining tone without over-simplification
From a design perspective, it might be helpful to explore a layered interaction model.
For example:
a standard mode for general usage
a separate creative mode optimized for writing workflows
consistent enforcement of restricted categories across all modes
In a creative mode, the system could:
better support symbolic and metaphor-based expression
allow higher narrative density
reduce unnecessary simplification in tone
maintain flow during long-form writing
A toggle-based approach could allow users to explicitly choose their context, while keeping default safety behavior unchanged.
This could also help separate general usage from more advanced writing use cases in a structured way.
With models like Spud in development, introducing this kind of layered system could improve usability without changing safety standards.
Another small observation:
In some cases, recent model behavior can feel slightly over-directive during writing tasks. A more neutral interaction style could make creative workflows smoother.
