Image generation limits need to be transparent and predictable

I understand that usage limits for image generation may be necessary, even for Plus subscribers. The main problem is not the existence of a limit, but the complete lack of transparency around it.

As a user, I currently cannot see how much of my image generation allowance I have already used, how much remains, or when the limit will reset. There is also no advance warning such as “25% remaining”, “10% remaining”, or “5 generations left”.

This becomes especially frustrating when working on a coherent image series. Such work often depends on maintaining the same references, style, visual language, and iterative corrections across several generations. If the limit is reached unexpectedly in the middle of that process, the work is interrupted at an arbitrary and often very inconvenient point.

The result is not only frustration, but wasted time. Users cannot plan whether they still have enough capacity to start or finish a larger image project. In practice, many users will simply switch to another AI service at that point if it offers more transparent usage information.

A simple usage indicator would solve much of this problem. Ideally, ChatGPT should show the percentage or number of image generations remaining, the approximate reset time, and warnings before the limit is reached.

I would strongly suggest adding a dedicated image-generation usage section to the existing Usage page. Even if limits are dynamic rather than fixed, an approximate remaining percentage and reset time would already make the system significantly more usable.

The issue is not that limits exist. The issue is that users currently cannot plan around them.
