I can't create an organization because I get "no organization selected" from every menu item

I removed myself from an organization, in order to create a new organization, but now I get “no organization selected” when I select any of the entries in the top right menu. I seem to be caught in a Catch-22: how can I create a new organization?

I was able to get reinvited to the original organization, but there seems no way to create a new organization for this account.
