I use one Codex account for personal projects and another for work. Logging out of Desktop every time got old, while separate CODEX_HOME folders only solved the CLI side.
I ended up making a small menu bar app called Codex Account Switcher. It stores the profiles locally and lets me choose one before starting work.
The part that surprised me was session behavior: after a switch I relaunch Codex Desktop, new CLI sessions use the selected profile, and CLI sessions already running keep the account they started with. I actually like that because there is no silent handoff in the middle of a task.
I kept it manual and skipped proxies or automatic pooling because I want to know exactly which account is active.
How are other macOS users handling this, especially if you move between Desktop and CLI during the same day?
