Having trouble with the new Open AI Ads Beta App and connecting paid account APIs

Hello. I just received the beta test for Open AI Ads. I downloaded the app and cannot appear to get anywhere because the API isn’t set up. I received the invite through an alias email and it’s making me log in using Facebook. I can’t figure out how to combine the ads account to my account on the platform.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. I would be very cautious here.

At the moment, there is no publicly announced or documented “OpenAI Ads” beta that requires a separate app, a Facebook login, or manual account linking to the OpenAI platform or API. That combination of signals, especially the Facebook login flow and the use of an email alias, is unusual and not how OpenAI typically onboards users for betas or developer features.

A few practical suggestions before proceeding any further:

  • Do not enter API keys, passwords, or payment details until this is clearly verified.

  • Check the sender domain of the invite email carefully. Official OpenAI communication comes from well known openai.com domains.

  • Verify whether the app was downloaded from an official app store listing tied to OpenAI, not a side-loaded or third-party source.

  • Try logging into your OpenAI account directly at the official site and check for any ads-related access or notifications there. If it does not appear in your account, that is another red flag.

  • If possible, reach out to OpenAI support through the official help center and ask them to confirm whether this beta exists and whether Facebook-based authentication is expected.

This might turn out to be a legitimate experiment, but until there is confirmation through official channels or documentation, I would treat it as unverified and proceed carefully.

…the kind of targeted attack that can occur against API developers after OpenAI sends all of your unsanitized, not anonymized, information (such as every navigation click in a UI, equivalent to a screen recording, along with your name and email in the clear) to multiple 3rd-party vendors without an opt-out, and then those careless uses are breached. Which is exactly what happened.

So you should be even more on the lookout, and consider any “enjoy this exe” to be a backdoor or RAT that is meant to persist access and steal valued assets until proven otherwise.

Wow, I have this exact question. I’m very careful how I download apps though, so I am confused how I ever got the invite to “OpenAI Ads GPT” if it is not a real Beta. I long-pressed on the app icon and it had an option to share feedback on Beta, however when the Beta/ Test Flight app opened it was missing from the list. I could have been hacked, or it could have been a limited time beta test. Please advise if anyone else has heard about this.
