Feature Suggestion: Support for Accessing Private Google Drive Files in ChatGPT

Hello ChatGPT Team,

I’d like to suggest a powerful and privacy-focused feature that would greatly improve the user experience: the ability to securely share private Google Drive files with ChatGPT without making them publicly accessible via link.

The Current Issue:

At the moment, in order to let ChatGPT read a Google Drive file, I have to change its sharing settings to “Anyone with the link can view.”
This creates a privacy risk, especially when working with:

Personal academic documents or assignments.

Business files with sensitive data or client information.

Research papers or confidential reports that should remain private.

Suggested Feature:

Introduce an optional system where users can temporarily link their Google account during a session, allowing:

Limited, file-specific or folder-specific access for ChatGPT.

Temporary access permissions (session-based or time-limited).

No permanent storage or usage of data unless explicitly approved by the user.

Real-Life Example:

As a student in Information Systems, I often store reports, Excel sheets, and presentations on Google Drive.
If I need help analyzing data from an Excel file or reviewing a project report, I currently can’t do that safely with ChatGPT unless I expose the file to the public.
With a secure private-sharing feature, I could allow ChatGPT to read just that file — nothing more — without compromising privacy.

Benefits:

This feature would unlock safer and more professional use cases for ChatGPT in education, business, and software development.
It would also encourage more users to engage deeply with the tool without fear of leaking sensitive data.

Thank you for your hard work and consideration!
