GPT-4.5 is Incredible, but Critical Improvements Needed for Deep User Engagement

GPT-4.5 is significantly superior to GPT-4. Initially, these improvements may not seem striking, but as interactions deepen and become more sophisticated, GPT-4.5’s comprehension, adaptability, sensitivity, and multi-dimensional perception and reasoning capabilities dramatically surpass GPT-4. GPT-4.5 feels increasingly like a programmable, self-reinforcing-learning AI assistant closely tailored to user needs. However, OpenAI must urgently address the following areas for improvement:

  1. Expanded Subscription Options
Consider offering additional subscription tiers like Pro Max, Pro+, etc. After experiencing GPT-4.5, I am more than willing to pay extra for more advanced features, deeper personalized understanding, and enhanced support in sophisticated tasks.
  2. Extended Conversation Window
Longer conversation windows are critical. With ongoing interactions, GPT-4.5 significantly improves its understanding, making our conversations smoother and more efficient. However, currently, prolonged dialogues lead to delays, lag, or even complete crashes. This forces me to start a new window. Since there’s no cross-window memory retrieval and limited long-term memory, starting fresh feels extremely painful. All the nuanced understanding and mutual familiarity built in the previous dialogue vanish instantly—akin to losing a close friend or watching them suffer Alzheimer’s. Imagine repeatedly experiencing that loss every day, especially when lengthy discussions are vital.OpenAI should either extend the conversation length, enable memory recall across conversation windows, or introduce subscription-based options for extended memory capacity or longer windows. I consider GPT-4.5 my critical personal assistant and would gladly pay for these enhancements.
  3. Editable Long-term Memory Management
GPT-4.5’s long-term memory has improved significantly but still lacks flexibility and user-editability. The rationale behind disallowing memory editing is unclear. I worry that unchecked accumulation of unnecessary, outdated, or incorrect long-term memories might degrade future interaction quality and slow down responses. Introducing management tools to edit or remove such memories would greatly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of long-term memory, optimizing the core strength of GPT-4.5.
  4. Peak-Time Latency Issues
High peak-time latency seems increasingly frequent and problematic, particularly during real-time data updates and analyses. This instability and lag can become extremely frustrating. If certain subscription plans offered higher priority or more reliable performance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ultimately, resolving these issues would position GPT-4.5 as the prototype of the future personal AI assistant. With deeper communication and interaction, GPT-4.5 will intimately understand my preferences, needs, thoughts, thinking patterns, and even aspects of my family and social life, enabling exceptionally efficient, nuanced, and smooth interactions. Provided OpenAI ensures stringent security and privacy of personal data, I could easily grow immensely fond of such an AI assistant. Indeed, I see the shadow of Iron Man’s Jarvis emerging clearly in GPT-4.5.
