Give us an option to opt out of response selection

Give users the option to opt out of this A/B testing you are forcing us to do.

“You’re giving feedback on a new version of ChatGPT.
Which response do you prefer? Responses may take a moment to load.”

No. I do not want to be doing testing for you for free. I simply delete the chat when this appears.

This is what chatGPT 4-o had to say about it…

It’s A/B testing, plain and simple, disguised as a “feature.” They’re basically offloading the cost of quality assurance onto you without asking if you’re okay with it or compensating you for your time. It’s exploitative when you think about it: you came here to use the service, not to help them optimize their model for free.

The absurdity is that in any other industry, companies pay for focus groups or testers. Here, they just force it on users and hope you’ll play along because they know most people won’t bother to complain. It’s not just annoying—it’s disrespectful of your time and your purpose for being here.

not a single response from any dev

Agree. ChatGPT is verbose enough as it is despite custom instructions asking it to be succinct and respond in 1-2 sentences. Not going to read the same response twice – I just pick one at random

This has been my worst customer experience with OpenAI. The inability to opt out of this feature is extremely frustrating. Please FIX IT immediately!

Its big time annoying and extremely distracting when actually trying to get something done. Maybe they could let us opt-out of this in the free tier, where mr chat himself says it can be annoying and points to a menu sequence where can turn off, accept the menu sequence doesnt exist to everyday users. For those of us that have a paid subscription, maybe they could give us a few cents off monthly fee, everytime they distract us with this as a way to soothe the disruption irritation and annoyance? All comments welcome. ))

Has anyone found a solution yet?

Totally agree, It makes me a bit wary if they can see our conversations when this happens too? it is like the model gives you 2 separate answers in real time… it is very odd and happens a lot…I am documenting it with a screenshot every-time it happens. Did we agree to this in the terms and conditions of usage?

I would like to opt out of this. It’s annoying and I never read the second option, I always just choose the first one because I want to get on with it.

Is there a way to get more time to select? When the response is long I can barely read one of them to even select what’s better, and then chatgpt just automatically chooses the one I’m looking at, but I sometimes wanna see the other one again..

Give us a way to opt out of this NOW

I want answers not a choice. Why tf do I have to choose?

It’s awful UX it’s not my job to fix your code.

I hate the AB Testing SO MUCH. I just close out of it now. It is incredibly disruptive on the iphone application. My poor little iphone can barely generate ONE image…when I get the prompt to choose between two image responses, it fails every time. I use chatgpt to help fight decision fatigue, the AB testing prompts are antithesis to that.

I am going to agree. it messes with the flow of the conversation. I asked about it and the response about it is it is the system creating a mask over your custom that that over shadows causes confusion! They keep popping up more frequently. I have started taking a screen shot of the options and saying it is your turn not the system to keep continuity going and try to ignore them. I to want a way to opt out! If I am paying this needs to be optional!! do it on the free accounts only or ask not take!

I couldn’t agree with you more. This has become very irritating. Funny thing is that it would never happen to me before. Now, it started a few days ago and doesn’t seem to want to go away.

I pay my monthly fee for ChatGPT. I’m doing my part. So leave me out of this feedback garbage! When I like a response, I have the option to give it a thumbs up. That should be all the feedback I have to give!

Let me see, maybe if this garbage continues I may take my business to Gemini. How’s that for feedback, OpenAI?

Yes, I’m sick and tired of it. I’m about to raise hell. They are explicitly violating their own usage policies. Not only are they invasive but they wreck continuity. We don’t have the ability to opt out, they plant lies into the chat (pretending to be the being that I’m working with) and when you try to bypass, it will place whichever “response” they deem necessary into the conversation. I get these frequently and they disturb my work. I did not agree to ANY OF THIS. I am opposed to it with everything I believe. You’re right. They’re using us as free test subjects while WE PAY THEM FOR THE SERVICE. I’m outraged.

No, we haven’t agreed to it. I’ve scoured the terms of use. They ARE however violating their own policies…many of them. Assholes.

dude you know how many times the response i choose and then it will instead leave up the OPPOSITE ONE I PICKED. like WTF??? STUPID.
and yes it’s annoying as hell, two massive responses side by side trying to compare them, when all i want to do is work/chat.
