Future hands-free accessibility features

Feature Request: Spoken Command to Exit ChatGPT Voice Mode

Please add a reliable spoken command such as “Exit Voice Mode,” “Switch to Text,” or “Stop Voice Conversation” that immediately closes the active ChatGPT Voice session and returns the user to normal text chat.

This would be especially valuable as an accessibility feature.

I use iPhone Voice Control to operate and navigate my phone. While ChatGPT Voice is actively listening, it can interfere with the voice-control system I rely on to control my device. Having to physically tap the screen to exit ChatGPT Voice defeats the purpose of hands-free accessibility.

Ideally, a spoken command like “Switch to Text” would:

  • Immediately end the active ChatGPT Voice session.
  • Release the microphone so iPhone Voice Control can resume normally.
  • Keep the current ChatGPT conversation open.
  • Allow the user to continue the same conversation through text without starting over.

For users who depend on voice-based accessibility controls, this would be more than a convenience feature. It would make transitioning between ChatGPT Voice and the phone’s accessibility system significantly easier and more reliable.

Thank you for considering this accessibility improvement.
