Forced to Switch Between ChatGPT Mac App & Web Due to Missing Features - Canvas + Project (+ other Feature Requests)

The MacOS ChatGPT app noticeable lags behind the web version, making it hard to stick to just the MacOS app:

Missing Features

Canvas & Projects: These key tools aren’t available, forcing you to hop back to the web version for these functions.

Chat Organization
No Sorting: Chats are displayed as one long, unlabelled list, unlike the web where they’re neatly divided into “Today,” “Yesterday,” etc.

Text Interaction
No Highlight/Quote Option: The app doesn’t let you highlight or quote text, a feature that’s been on the web for ages.

The constant need to hop between the app and the web for full functionality makes the app feel incomplete and less useful.
It would be great if the Mac app could get the feature with the web app.
Otherwise, with every new feature release we have to come back to the web app, till the mac app gets the updates.

Let’s also not forget the lack of support for conversation branching in the MacOS app (as well as the iOS & Android apps).

That is, if you regenerate a response, or generate additional response versions by switching the model, none of the previous versions of that response are accessible in any of the apps. You have to switch to the web interface in order to see them.

Likewise, the same goes for branch points that are generated when you edit a prompt. None of the previous prompt versions are accessible in the apps, forcing you to jump to the web interface.

In fact, I think I’ll start a separate request thread for this.

Update: here’s the separate feature request thread for conversation branching I created, for anyone interested in upvoting: Request: Conversation branch switching in the apps
