# Find Old Assistant Propmpts

I understand that Assistants have been shut down 2 days ago. I went to migrate them but I can’t find my old prompts.

Sorry for the delayed response. I understand you’re having trouble finding your previously saved Assistant instructions while migrating to the Responses API.

As @\_j mentioned, OpenAI notified developers on August 26, 2025, that the Assistants API would be discontinued on August 26, 2026. The API has now been shut down and is no longer available.

If you have copies of your instructions saved in your application code, configuration files, or backups, you can use them to recreate your setup with the Responses API. Please refer to the official [Assistants migration guide](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/assistants/migration) for more details.

The migration guide does not document a way to recover instructions after the shutdown. If you don’t have a saved copy, please contact Support through [s](http://help.openai.com)[upport@openai.com](mailto:upport@openai.com) to ask whether any recovery options are available for your account.

Please note that recovery is not guaranteed.
