Feedback on Content Delivery and Transparency

Dear OpenAI Development Team,

I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent interaction with the platform.

I requested the verbatim text of specific chapters from How to Be a Genius or The Science of Being Great (1911) by Wallace D. Wattles. However, I received a summary or a representation of the text instead of the exact, unaltered content as requested. I understand there may be legal and policy constraints, but this was not clearly communicated to me upfront.

It would have been helpful to know from the start that I was not able to receive the full text and that there are limitations related to content reproduction. In this case, transparency regarding these limitations would have allowed me to adjust my expectations and avoid confusion.

Going forward, I suggest ensuring that:

  1. Users are promptly informed of legal or policy restrictions on content requests.
  2. Any content provided in response to requests for verbatim text be accompanied by a clear explanation of the constraints (e.g., copyright laws or platform guidelines).
  3. Clear options or links to access the requested material (such as verified public domain sources) be offered.

I value the platform and would appreciate it if these points could be considered for improved clarity and user experience.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
