[Feedback] Missing “Open Main Window” Button in Companion Mode on Windows

Hello everyone, I’d like to bring this to the dev team’s attention.

After the latest update to the Windows desktop ChatGPT app (Microsoft Store version), the button that previously allowed opening the main window from the companion (quick chat) window is no longer available, even when starting a new chat.

Additionally, the system tray icon now only reopens the companion window, with no option to access the main window from there. Currently, the only way to launch the main window is by using the Start menu or searching for it, even if the app is already running.

This change disrupts workflow efficiency. Could you please consider restoring the “Open Main Window” button in the companion mode or provide an alternative method to access the main window directly from the companion window?

here is the app info:
name: ChatGPT
version: 1.2025.41
locale: en-US
os_name: Windows_NT
os_version: 10.0.26100
arch: x86_64

I agree. Please bring back the option to open chats in the main window. It was very useful for opening a chat in a separate window while continuing to use the companion for a new session. Since this change isn’t mentioned in the release notes, I assume it was an unintended regression.
