I’d like to suggest a feature enhancement for ChatGPT — date-driven contextual awareness.
Here’s the idea: suppose I start a conversation about an upcoming event on December 22nd. Over the next several weeks, I continue chatting with the model about it — making plans, updates, and so on. The model should be able to:
-
Understand how far the current date is from the mentioned event.
-
Naturally adjust its responses over time (e.g., “3 months left,” “2 weeks to go,” “it’s tomorrow,” “it already happened 10 days ago”).
-
Use real-world time to dynamically interpret references like “next week,” “in 2 days,” or “yesterday” based on the actual date of the conversation.
This would make long-term planning, project tracking, and conversational continuity feel much more natural and human-like. It’s less about calendar integration and more about giving the AI temporal context — awareness of time progression across chats.
Thanks for considering this idea! I think it could massively improve realism and utility in long-term or recurring use cases.
Best,
P
